And it’s laughing at me, personally. Remember how I made a big deal out of “Oh, my job is awesome!” and “WAY to get the day off on Monday, Financial Industry!”? Well, that’s just one more lesson in I Should Never Open My Big Fat Mouth.
As you’re all aware, I live in a house that has three children in it. It comes as no surprise that with three children, and Becky’s awesome immune system (<3 you!) somebody in the house is sick pretty much all the time. This time, we’ve all had “what’s going around” lately, and we’ve all taken turns complaining about how “I feel like I just got run over” and “Oh, my God, I’m dying.”
Yesterday, Alex started running a high fever, so he went to the minute clinic and then the hospital. Long story short, he’s got pneumonia. My reaction is mixed. I mean, on the one hand, I totally beat pneumonia (or whatever turns into pneumonia) but on the other hand, he’s miserable. Totally pathetic looking, with the flushy cheeks and the fever-glassed eyes. It’s a really sad sight.
This morning, he woke me up about 530 crying, and had a terrible fever. So, gave him some Tylenol, and I’ve been awake tending to him since then. My day off, his day to get me tending to him. As much as I’d love to gripe about not taking the day and putting my feet up, I can’t be mad about taking care of a four year old who’s really sick. And it makes him cuddly, so there’s that too.
Mostly, it’s just a lesson in making sure that you never, ever tell the universe you’re happy about a bonus thing, or the universe will find a way to take that thing away from you. So, lesson learned.
In other news, I have been trying to figure out what to do with this blog, now that I can’t wake up at the crack of “whenever the hell I feel like it” and update it whenever in the day I get around to writing it. My tentative answer is that I’m writing at night and just scheduling for the next day, so let me know when you actually want to see it appear in the day. Are you morning people? Afternoon people? You can drop me a comment, or you can use my feedback form and email me. Also, if you want to hear more about a particular thing, do the same thing!
I cover everything from cooking, to family living, to what’s for lunch today. Tell me what you like, tell me what you hate, I’ll write what you guys like to hear about, even if I won’t just tell you what you want to hear.
